Day 3. Mineral

This is a picture of refractories cast in cement. It was created by my husband and is part of our landscaping.

A Refractory is a non-metallic material that retains strength at high heats. These are refractory castables set into cement. The circle in the middle is Large Aggregate Bauxite. The green circle is Large Aggregate Chrome Alumina. The square above is Small Aggregate Bauxite. The yellow square is made from Tabular Allumina.

These refractories are made from: Al2O3 Aluminum Oxide, SiO2 Quartz, CaO Calcium Oxide,
TiO2 Titanium Oxide, FeO2 Iron Oxide. This is just a brief list of possible elements that may be used.
